DATA COLLECTION
PhosphorTide does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app does not require an account, registration, or sign-in of any kind.
NETWORK REQUESTS
PhosphorTide connects to the Marine Institute of Ireland's public ERDDAP data service to retrieve tide predictions, high/low tidal events, real-time gauge readings, wave buoy telemetry, and weather buoy conditions. These requests are made directly from your device to Marine Institute servers. No data passes through any intermediary server operated by us.
LOCATION DATA
PhosphorTide optionally uses your device's location solely to determine the nearest tide station for default selection. This location information is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted, stored, or shared with any third party. The app functions fully without location permission.
LOCAL DATA STORAGE
PhosphorTide caches tide prediction data, high/low events, and buoy readings locally on your device to provide offline access and faster loading. This data consists solely of publicly available Marine Institute readings and contains no personal information. User preferences (home station, colour theme, datum selection, favourites) are stored locally using standard iOS mechanisms. This data never leaves your device.
ANALYTICS AND TRACKING
PhosphorTide does not include any analytics frameworks, crash reporters, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking of any kind.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The only external service PhosphorTide communicates with is the Marine Institute of Ireland's ERDDAP service, which is operated by the Marine Institute, an Irish state agency. Their use of any data is governed by their own privacy policy.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
PhosphorTide does not collect data from anyone, including children.
