Superstitions — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Data Collection

Superstitions does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app does not require an account, registration, or sign-in of any kind.

Network Requests

The whole collection is inside the app, and every feast, moon phase, meteor shower peak, eclipse, sunrise and sunset is computed locally on your device. The app works entirely offline.

The one exception is live weather, which is off until you turn it on. When it is on, the app asks the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) for the forecast at your chosen place, rounded to two decimal places, which is about a kilometre. The request carries the app’s name and version and nothing that identifies you. It is made only while the app is open, and never in the background.

Location

If you choose to use your location for the sky, Superstitions reads it on the device to set your place. The location itself is not sent anywhere; only the rounded place is used, and only for the weather request above. You can decline location and enter a place by hand instead, and the app works normally either way. Searching for a place by name uses Apple’s own geocoding service, as any iOS app does.

Local Data Storage

Your saved beliefs, your recent reading, your chosen place and your notification settings are stored locally on your device using standard iOS mechanisms. The app’s widget needs none of them and computes the day’s belief for itself. Nothing is stored anywhere else.

Notifications

If you enable the daily notification, it is scheduled locally on your device and worked out there. It involves no server and no personal data, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.

Sharing and Source Links

Sharing a belief hands its text to the standard iOS share sheet, and where it goes from there is your choice. Tapping a source’s reading link opens that public-domain text in your browser. Superstitions uploads nothing.

Analytics and Tracking

Superstitions does not include any analytics frameworks, crash reporters, advertising SDKs, or third-party tracking of any kind. We do not know who you are, where you are, or how you use the app. That is by design.

Third-Party Services

The only third-party service is MET Norway’s weather forecast, described above, and only when you turn live weather on. There are no social media integrations, no advertising networks, and no data brokers.

Children’s Privacy

Superstitions does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a revised date. Given that the app collects no data, changes are unlikely.
